Heavyweight integrated amplifier heading Denon's range in 1978/9. Attractively styled and with geniune high-end build quality, the Denon PMA-850 was one of the very best high-end Japanese integrateds of it's era. It featured three turntable inputs (MM & MC) which would shame many modern so called high-end outboard phono stages. These are excellent buys if you can find one was they are extremely reliable and they sound better than many modern integrateds. As with any vintage amp, however, one should have it serviced (including capacitor renewal) for it to perform at it's best. |
The PMA-850 was replaced in early 1979 by the similarly styled PMA-850II which featured partial class A operation (for the first 10W of output). |
